Questions about quality

What is special about Dr. Hauschka?

A Unique Skin Care Philosophy as the protective covering of the body, the human skin is exposed to many influences from within and without which can impair its functioning and appearance. This can result in unbalanced skin reactions such as dryness, lack of moisture or the overproduction of oil, and ultimately in premature aging.

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care regards these changing skin conditions as transient skin states and does not divide the skin into static types. By addressing the skin as a holistic organ and stimulating its natural functions, Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products encourage the skin to exercise its powers of self-regeneration.

Is animal testing used for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products?

We ourselves have never done any testing in animals and will not do so in the future either.

You can be absolutely certain that none of the Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products or any of the raw materials used in their manufacture have been tested on animals – either by us or by anyone else on our behalf. The raw materials and manufacturing processes we use are such that all the products can be safely tested on volunteers during development. We also believe that these tests are far more informative than any tests performed on animals.

How can I identify ‘real natural cosmetics’?

As there are not currently any legally binding specifications for the properties of natural cosmetic products in Europe, consumers need a reliable guide to help them select products. The well-known natural cosmetic stamp from the NATRUE guarantees that products comply with specified quality criteria, e.g. that they do not contain any petroleum derivatives or synthetic fragrances, dyes or preservatives. Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products bear the NATRUE stamp.

However, Dr. Hauschka quality goes far beyond the minimum requirements of the labels: wherever possible, we use plants obtained from biodynamic or controlled organic farming. The entire manufacturing process for our products, from their design to their creation to their production, takes place in-house. We invest intensively in research and development to make our products more effective and better tolerated – without any animal testing whatsoever. A successful, certified environmental management system has helped us to optimise our processes and conserve resources for many years. We also believe that it is important to pass on some of our knowledge to poorer countries within the scope of our various farming projects and to foster and expand the use of organic farming in these countries. These are just a few aspects of the Dr. Hauschka commitment to quality.

Does Dr. Hauschka support farming projects?

For the cultivation of strategically important raw materials, WALA has initiated and managed farming projects in third world and threshold countries for several decades. These enable local people to enjoy an economically viable existence while also fulfilling WALA’s need for high-quality raw materials. For example, we obtain organic mango butter and caster oil from India, organic shea butter from Burkina Faso and organic rose oil from Ethiopia, Iran and Afghanistan.
